Libraries Without Walls Reports - The delivery of library services to distant users

The libraries of the University of Central Lancashire, the University of the Aegean and Dublin City University worked together on the BIBDEL Project which was inspired by the need to provide higher education to remote communities throughout Europe. Advanced study requirews access to library materials and services which are not locally available, and the project partners developed demonstarion experiments to exploire ways in which libraries might provide the resources and services enjoyed by students and academic staff in more densely populated areas.

The project produced a series of reports on its work, including a final report on the project as a whole, Proceedings from its conference, and a 'toolkit of techniques' on aspects of managing the delivery of library and information srevices to remote sites: the latter is a World Wide Web document mounted at the following URL:- http://www.dcu.ie/library/bibdel/index.html
