SHERPA Evaluation – Evaluation of the SHERPA project
CERLIM was awarded funding to undertake evaluation of the SHERPA Project, from August 2004 to the end of July 2005.
SHERPA (http://www.sherpa.ac.uk/) investigated the future of scholarly communication and academic publishing, by supporting the development of openly accessible institutional digital repositories in a number of research universities, and populating them with research papers. The aim was to make research literature more quickly and freely available to the research community.
The specific objectives of the CERLIM evaluation were:
- To collect data on the experience of end users within the SHERPA consortium (i.e. authors of papers) when using institutional eprint repositories
- To clarify what motivates the decision whether or not to deposit
- To review advocacy initiatives and strategies with a view to providing guidance to future institutional repository initiatives
The CERLIM Evaluation Plan is available here in Microsoft Word format (52kb)
The SHERPA Project Evaluation Final Report is available here in Microsoft Word format (309kb)
