NORRS - National Online Resources Requirement Survey
CERLIM has been awarded funding by the JISC Collections Team to undertake a major national survey of the UK FE and HE teaching and library communities, to ascertain their requirements for online resources. This will inform future content purchasing decisions by providing evidence of real requirements and enabling the Collections Team to prioritise content acquisition. NORRS will run from August 2004 to the end of January 2005.
The specific objectives of the NORRS project are to:
- Survey the UK HE and FE teaching communities to identify need for online resources not already provided by JISC or EduServ CHEST
- Survey Library and Information Service, LIS, staff to identify need for online resources
- Identify subject areas which require the development of online resources to fulfil curricular needs
- Plot the existing JISC resources onto a matrix of eight discipline areas as determined by the RDN model
- Plot findings of the survey onto the matrix to identify need by discipline
- Provide the JISC Collections Team with a list of priorities for content acquisition, which address priorities for HE and FE communities by discipline area
