STRAND X

Workpackage X1

Aim: To link the EDNER findings concerning HE with broader JISC, national and international digital initiatives to provide intelligence for the developing JISC Information Environment (IE).

Description: Issues emerging from EDNER evaluation of IE will be examined in other contexts to identify facilitators, barriers and resolutions occurring in related environments (such as NGfL, Culture Online, UK Online, Peoples Network, FERL, LTSN, Blackboard.com, WebCT.com etc) to provide intelligence for the developing JISC IE.

Workpackage X2

Aim: To review existing approaches used in formative evaluation of digital initiatives at local, national and international levels to provide intelligence for ongoing and future IE evaluation programmes.

Description: A 'methodology watch' will be established to identify evaluation approaches and methodologies being used in types of digital initiative which are related to the JISC IE.

This activity links to WP-C-1 in which a methodology for the efficient assessment of the use of electronic information resources in learning and teaching in an HEI will be developed.

Workpackage X3

Aim: To analyse and synthesis results of Strands A,B and C to determine the overall impact of IE developments on teaching, learning and research

Description: On an annual basis, all results from Strands A (Evaluation of IE as enabling environment), Strand B (Evaluation of subject portals) and Strand C (Impact of IE on learning and teaching) will by analysed and synthesised to inform IE development strategies.

Workpackage X4

Aim: To undertake direction and management of the Project

Description: This workpackage will be responsible for all actions involved in managing the project including the development and agreement of a detailed Project Plan, regular reporting to JISC and the IE Development Team, meetings of the project management team, and formative and summative evaluation of the Project itself.

Workpackage X5

Aim: To disseminate the findings of the project to the IE Development Team and to the wider community.

Description: The workpackage includes all tasks concerned with the dissemination of results and of information to the broader community.
