Welcome to the website for the Centre for Research in Library and Information Management. Cerlim was established in 1993 to undertake research with a practical focus to support operational work in all kinds of library and information services. CERLIM is situated within the Department of Information and Communications at Manchester Metropolitan University and The Information Research Institute (TIRI).

Retirement of Professor Peter Brophy. Prof. Peter Brophy retired as Director of CERLIM in August 2008. In celebration and acknowledgement of the contribution Peter has made to the field of library and information studies, CERLIM are proud to announce the publication of Access, Delivery, Performance: the future of libraries without walls, edited by Jillian R. Griffiths and Jenny Craven, and published by Facet Publishing (link to: http://www.facetpublishing.co.uk/index.shtml), copies can be purchased from the Facet website.

Libraries Without Walls Conference: Important announcement: Following the retirement of Prof. Peter Brophy, plus a number of staff and organisational changes at Manchester Metropolitan University, the next Libraries Without Walls conference (LWW8) is planned for 2010. This will ensure the LWW conferences continue to be run to the high standard that has been achieved in the past. CERLIM will start planning the 2010 conference around Easter 2009, and will issue a call for papers in the late Autumn next year. We look forward to hearing from you then!

M-Learning Project: CERLIM has funding to undertake a study to identify current developments in mobile Learning in UK higher education and to assess the use and viability of learning objects delivered via mobile technologies.
